It is hard to believe that spring is almost here and the hustle and bustle of the end of the school year is rapidly approaching. Things are winding down for the workshops offered at NJAKE. There are only three left on our calendar and all offer some great opportunities for enrichment, fresh ideas, and ways to spark interest in children during the trying end of the school year weeks ahead. NJAKE has always tried to offer workshops that are affordable and relevant. It is at the core of why you became a member. In addition, we get an opportunity to meet other like minded teachers who are searching for ways to make our classrooms collaborative places of learning. Please think about the following offerings and sign up now. You won’t regret it!
Bluebirds in the Classroom, March 5
You will have to sign up immediately if you want to participate in this workshop, since it takes place next weekend. We have formed a partnership with Duke Farms in Hillsborough to provide an all day workshop that includes new lesson plans on the next generation science standards and ways to integrate activities across the curriculum. Have you been using their eagle cam in the classroom? Are you looking for something different for Earth Day? Sign up at www.dukefarms.org. Go to programs, then educators to find and register for Bluebirds. We will all get a free bluebird box and maybe even two!
Using Children’s Literature to Inspire STEM Activities, March 19
Middlesex County is offering a workshop that also includes science activities, all based on children’s literature. If you start with a book in all your thematic activities, this workshop is for you. Check it out in the attachment.
Spring Conference with Mary Amonson, April 9
Each spring we have a general meeting and bring in a nationally recognized speaker. Mary Amonson can be found at www.sharingkindergarten.com. You can go to her website and take a look at what she has to offer. Our workshop will include Stem activities, literacy, and math games to finish the end of the year and beyond. The deadline is rapidly approaching and you will not want to miss out.
Go to www.njake.net and click on the workshops for the agenda and registration.
We hope to see you at these workshops soon!
